Shockwave Therapy in Kingwood, TX for Fast, Long-Lasting Pain Relief

Shockwave Therapy Technology

StemWave acoustic shockwave therapy helps to pinpoint and treat areas of inflammation and injury by stimulating circulation, bringing in oxygen and other healing cells which accelerates the process of repair and recovery.

Shockwave therapy uses high-energy acoustic sound waves to stimulate healing in injured tissues. These waves increase blood flow, break up scar tissue, reduce inflammation, and activate your body’s natural repair mechanisms. It is one of the most effective non-invasive treatments for chronic joint, tendon, ligament, and muscle pain, and it works without downtime.

At Kingwood Chiropractic Spine & Injury Center, we offer advanced Shockwave Therapy (ESWT / StemWave) to help patients recover from stubborn injuries, chronic pain, and tendon damage without drugs, injections, or surgery. This breakthrough technology helps patients from Kingwood, Humble, Atascocita, Porter, New Caney, and North Houston get back to normal life faster than traditional treatments alone.

If you’ve been dealing with pain that hasn’t responded to stretching, chiropractic care, physical therapy, or medication, shockwave therapy may finally give you the relief you’ve been searching for.

What to Expect During Your Shockwave Therapy Visit

Step 1 - Injury/Condition Evaluation

Dr. Hamel evaluates your injury, mobility, muscle balance, and movement patterns to pinpoint the true cause of your pain.

Step 2 - Customized Shockwave Treatment

The shockwave device is applied to the injured area to break up damaged tissue, stimulate blood flow, and activate healing.

Step 3 - Supportive Therapies

Depending on your condition, you may also receive chiropractic adjustments, cold laser therapy, corrective exercises, and muscle release therapy.

This combination speeds recovery and leads to long-lasting results.

How Many Sessions Will You Need?

Most patients need 3-6 sessions spread over a few weeks, depending on the severity and how long the injury has been present. Longstanding or severe cases may need additional treatments, but relief typically begins early in the process.

**During your first visit Dr. Hamel will evaluate your area of concern with the device to help identify areas of inflammation that are contributing to your condition or injury. The patient will feel some discomfort during this evaluation and analysis because the shockwaves are going right over the top of the injured area; this is NORMAL and Dr. Hamel is looking for this as part of his evaluation. Based on the results of this first treatment, Dr. Hamel will let you know if you are a good candidate for shockwave therapy; often times the patient will see a change in pain and range of motion after the first visit, anywhere from 5-20% If the patient does not see positive change after the first evaluation and treatment, or if Dr. Hamel believes he cannot help a certain condition he will do his best to refer the patient to another doctor.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

  • Does shockwave therapy hurt?

Most patients describe shockwave therapy as a deep, pulsing pressure-not sharp or unbearable pain. The intensity is fully adjustable, and we tailor the treatment to your comfort level. Many patients even find it relieving, especially once the tissue begins to loosen and heal. After treatment, it's normal to feel mild soreness for 12-24 hours, similar to a workout.

  • How quickly will I feel results from shockwave therapy?

Many patients feel noticeable improvement after just 1-3 sessions, especially with tendon or muscle injuries. Chronic issues may take a few additional visits, but shockwave therapy typically accelerates healing much faster than traditional rest, stretching, or medication alone. Our goal is measurable relief as quickly as possible.

  • What makes shockwave therapy different from chiropractic care or physical therapy?

Shockwave therapy targets the root of chronic pain by breaking up scar tissue, increasing blood flow, and jumpstarting cell regeneration-things that stretching, adjustments, and exercise alone may not fully achieve. When combined with chiropractic care and corrective exercises, results are significantly faster and longer-lasting.

  • Can shockwave therapy help old or long-term injuries?

Yes. Shockwave therapy is one of the most effective options for injuries that have lingered for months or even years. Conditions like chronic plantar fasciitis, long-standing shoulder pain, old sports injuries, and tendon problems respond exceptionally well. If you've "tried everything," shockwave therapy may finally provide a breakthrough.

  • Is shockwave therapy safe for athletes and active adults?

Absolutely. Shockwave therapy is widely used by professional athletes, physical therapists, and sports medicine clinics because it helps athletes heal faster and return to training sooner. It's safe for runners, tennis players, golfers, pickleball athletes, weightlifters, and weekend warriors-anyone needing fast, durable recovery.

  • How long does each shockwave treatment take?

Most sessions take 8-15 minutes depending on the area being treated. This makes it a great option for busy professionals, athletes, and parents who want fast, effective care without long appointment times. You can return to normal activities immediately after treatment.

  • What if shockwave therapy doesn't fix my pain?

Most patients experience significant improvement, but if your condition doesn't respond as expected, we adjust your treatment plan. Dr. Hamel may incorporate cold laser therapy, chiropractic adjustments, corrective exercises, or soft tissue treatments to enhance results. We never rely on a one-size-fits-all approach-your treatment plan evolves to ensure you get the best possible outcome.
